About This Special Issue
Since thousands of years ago plants and animals have become one of the energy sources of life for humans. Nevertheless, parts of plants and animals are disposed of as organic waste. There many research about the utilization of biological material waste from living organism has been widely carried out and developed. Since thousands of years ago plants and animal have become one of the energy sources of life for humans, like the formation of energy resources, food, medicine as well as being used as cosmetics and others. Nevertheless some plants are disposed of as organic waste.Several studies have found that waste originating from plants contains bioactive compounds. One third until one half globally comes from food waste, and about 50% of food waste comes from vegetables, fruits, and root crops (Neha Gupta et.al, 2019, UNFAO, 2016). Most of it generally colorful and contain secondary metabolic, such as anthocyanin, flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, and tannin, etc. (Neha Gupta, 2019; UNFAO, 2016). These bioactive compounds are very useful as a source of human life, such as can be used as active ingredients, additives or as a carrier in the preparation of drugs, food, cosmetics, and others. The purpose and scope of this special issue are to track the extent of the discovery of bioactive compounds contained in the waste of various animal and plants and their use as a source of life that is more beneficial to human life. The screening phytochemical/biochemical and development of food nutrition, drug, cosmetic, cosmeceutical products using animal, vegetable and fruits waste extract as a model bioactive agent special issue is one of the waste problem solving.
Aims and Scope:
- Extraction from fruit peels, vegetables and animal waste
- Screening of phytochemical/biochemical and activity test or effectiveness test from extract waste, such as antioxidant, antiseptic, antibacterial, coloring agent etc
- Food nutrition, drug, cosmetic, cosmeceuticals products such as nail color peel off, hair color, cream, masker, liquid soap, soap, shampoo, body lotion, etc
- Formulation: design formula cosmeceuticals, preparation and evaluation
- The cosmetic evaluation includes evaluation of physical and chemical characteristics
- The Effectiveness tests for cosmeceutical product
