About This Special Issue
Despite significant advances in sanitation and medicine, infectious diseases are still the leading cause of death world-wide, new diseases are emerging, old diseases are re-emerging, there are ominous interactions between diseases, and antibiotic resistance is emerging as a major problem. These diseases continue to disrupt the health care system, and their successful detection and treatment is becoming increasingly complicated. It is essential that public health agencies frequently and methodically make every effort to collect, assemble, analyse, and make available health information about the community. Emergence of infectious diseases is associated with human factors such as population density, travel, trade, changes in land use, environmental factors and the interaction between humans and wildlife. Current issues in preventing infectious diseases and their implications for the future will be examined, looking broadly at technologies, program strategies, and the growing influence of public and professional attitudes and perceptions in maintaining and achieving infectious disease control.
This special issue aims to introduce latest research findings regarding Progress in Infectious Disease Management. It will help readers to improve understanding of how a number of forces such as economic processes, technological developments, political influences, cultural and value systems, and social and natural environmental factors influences infectious diseases, particularly in the developing world. This issue will help also to explore how the processes of these factors impact on the epidemiology and capacity to control of infectious diseases and to examine how efforts to control infectious diseases need to take account of different factors processes.
This special issue is open to any subject area related to infectious diseases with a focus on Progress in Infectious Disease Management.
