About This Special Issue
The relationship between plant growth and its response strategies and the environment has always been an important topic in international ecological research. Urban greening plants are one of the most important components of urban ecosystems. They not only have the function of beautifying the urban environment, but also bear the important role of sterilization, fixed particulate matter, noise reduction and cooling, carbon fixation and oxygen release. In view of the rapid growth of the urban population in the world, the city's impervious surface expansion, air pollution, heat island effect, urban fragmentation and other "urban diseases" are becoming more and more serious. This has seriously impeded the development of urban forestry and seriously threatened the physical and mental health of urban residents.
Under such an environmental background, guided by the idea of “sustainable development”, exploring the response and adaptation strategies of urban greening plants to urban environmental changes, which provide the important reference for the rational allocation of urban vegetation, planting management and sustainable development of urban forestry.
Aims and Scope:
  1. Impact of urban heat island effect on urban plant growth and its biodiversity
  2. Influence of urban hardened surface expansion on urban greening plant growth
  3. Urban green space to alleviate air pollution
  4. Impact of land use on plant composition of urban open space
  5. Driving forces for changes in plant composition in urban open spaces
  6. Impact of urbanization intensity on urban greening plants
  7. Plant growth physiological changes under the background of urban warming
  8. Impact of urban environmental change on urban ecosystem health and sustainability
