About This Special Issue
As it is the language of international communication, English has been taught and learned all over the globe as a foreign and second language using different approaches and methods. In many parts of the world where the language is taught and learned via technology, however, EFL and ESL teachers and learners still encounter a wide range of formidable challenges during the teaching-learning process, which would present a stumbling block to the achievement of its overall objective, namely the learners’ ability to communicate effectively in English in both its oral and written form. The aim of this special issue is, therefore, twofold. Firstly, to investigate the different challenges EFL and ESL teachers and learners face in teaching and learning the four English language skills, specifically listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well a number of sub-skills, such as spelling, grammar and pronunciation. Secondly, to propound efficient, down-to-earth remedies that could meet the challenges, and hence lead to the desired outcome of the teaching-learning process.
