About This Special Issue
Taking into consideration the latest recommendations of the FDA concerning the use of synthetic meshes in pelvic surgery, we believe it is important to review the indications of mesh surgery in cases of advanced or recurrent utero-vaginal prolapse. Colposacropexy and native tissues surgery in these cases is associated with incomplete restauration of anatomy and a high relapse rate, which is why expanding the surgical approach is imperative in our opinion. We consider that in these cases mesh surgery complications are exceeded by the postoperative anatomical and clinical advantages.

Aims and Scope:

  1. advanced utero-vaginal prolapse
  2. recurrent utero-vaginal prolapse
  3. mesh surgery
  4. mesh complications
  5. vaginal surgery
  6. urogynecology
